Job Summary:
The PCB Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for new and existing electrical engineering projects. With a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to industry standards, the PCB Design Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of PCB designs. This role requires excellent technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop high-quality PCB layouts, including schematics, component placement, and routing, utilizing industry-standard design software and tools.
2. Collaborate with electrical engineers and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, specifications, and constraints.
3. Ensure that PCB designs meet all necessary electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements, including design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) considerations.
4. Perform thorough design reviews and participate in design verification activities to verify accuracy, functionality, and adherence to project goals.
5. Generate design documentation, including PCB fabrication and assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and other technical documentation as required.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PCB layout, electrical connectivity, and manufacturing processes to ensure successful project completion.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in PCB design tools and methodologies to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
8. Collaborate with external PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective production of PCBs.
9. Maintain accurate records and documentation of design changes, version control, and design release processes.
10. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum [X] years of experience in PCB design engineering.
3. Proficiency in industry-standard PCB design software, such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics PADS.
4. Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including schematic design, component selection, signal integrity, and power distribution.
5. Demonstrated experience in designing complex multilayer PCB layouts for high-speed digital and analog circuits.
6. Solid knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies.
7. Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines, such as IPC-2221, IPC-7351, and RoHS compliance.
8. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues effectively.
9. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
10. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and present technical information to cross-functional teams.
